myth of absence highlights the near-total absence of black representation in classical and modern western art and media. it invites dialogue on whitewashing in art and culture—what it means to erase an identity, a culture, a people, and a history. through the interplay of absence and presence, the creation of shadows, the erasure of bodies and various attempts to occupy space, the work challenges the dominant narratives of visibility and exclusion.

to die in you is an ode to everyone who lives in a body that always has and still is the target of oppression. it serves as an attempt to begin the process of healing and decolonising both the body itself and the way it is seen. by examining the history of our bodies and the power it holds, we learn to love what has been deemed unlovable and to fully embody ourselves. through inner resistance, greif, honesty, and determination, we move through the journey towards a decolonised gaze.
